Technical Animator

Responsibilities:

Reporting to the Technical Art Director, the Senior Technical Animator is responsible for developing the animation tools and pipeline necessary to speed up production and improve animator’s quality of life. Must be self-motivated, willing to take the initiative and have a passion for helping the team learn and grow. Must have a strong rigging background. Unreal expertise is a plus. Must be a strong communicator and serve as an intermediary between Animation and Tech. Experience with different consoles is preferred. 

 

Essential Functions:

  • Research, define, extend, and maintain animation pipelines, processes, and workflows

  • Setting up rigs and developing procedural animation pipelines

  • Refine Unreal pipeline for best practices to developing content cross platforms

Qualifications:

  • Worked on 2+ games that shipped

  • Experience in Python and the use of PyQt/PySide (additional languages a plus)

  • Strong attention to detail

  • Proactive team contributor

  • Ability to write clean, maintainable and extensible code with attention to reusability

  • Intimate knowledge of Maya and computer graphics as demonstrated in a portfolio

  • Understanding of the following:

    • Auto rig systems, facial rigs, simulation setup, animation retargeting, motion capture pipeline, etc.

  • Strong debugging capabilities including: Art/Visual issues in engine (why something doesn't look right), technical issues (why something doesn't work), performance and memory analysis.

  • Enthusiasm and initiative

  • Excellent spoken and written communication
